French Home Accessories Have Become Very Fashionable

It has become trendy to use French home accessories. For some people, Parisian accessories could be antiques and artworks while, for others, they could be bold murals of famous icons, or a mini Eiffel tower adorning the garden. Whatever your personal taste is, you can find accessories from this romantic part of the world to add something special to your home.

Metal is an important element in French decor, particularly iron. The texture and color can give any room a unique look and feel. For instance, forged curtain rods can enhance your living room. To add elegance and charm to the bathroom, put up an iron shelf. The rich color of iron is something that the metals of today do not offer.

Ornaments are big in France, especially on wallpaper. Don’t think that this idea is out of date because wallpaper is making a big comeback. However, it should be used sparingly to ensure subtle gracefulness. Too much wallpaper is distracting and invasive.

In kitchens and dining areas, intricately designed tableware is a must. To really be fashionable, these designs should also look old-fashioned. Floral motifs rank very highly. Clay is a big feature in kitchens and it is also practical. You can use French pottery pieces for storage and, at the same time, adding a taste of rural rustic to your kitchen.

When it comes to walls, they can be decorated with murals, as already mentioned, or baroque paintings of famous French characters. Bedrooms should be about femininity and elegance with the main colors being white, beige and cream. To finish off the decor, add a canopy style bed with a veil or drapes. For a more modern look, have a black canopy frame instead.

For other areas of the home, use paint and other finishes. For example, rustic stone against a backdrop of distressed white wood will evoke a style of country living. If you want to create an urban look, go for sophisticated grays, blues or coffee brown, accented with cream. Large dining rooms look fabulous with ornate gold-leafed wallpaper.

To create a Parisian living room, you should have a stone fireplace and, of course, French doors leading onto a terrace with views of a lush garden. Place a Bistro table on the terrace, or in the kitchen to create a cozy breakfast nook. If your home is not conducive to this, a simple kitchen window box filled with herbs and lavender will look quaint and very French.

From a furniture perspective, have several bold pieces that are typical of French style. Some examples are tables or desks with thin carved legs and items made of solid wood with distressed and shabby-looking finishes. Accessorize with articles like a big colorful rooster standing on a pillow.

Choosing French home accessories is easy. It all depends on the style you are looking for, the size of your home and what you can afford to spend. Finally, some experts say that if you are going to go for the old traditional French look, then use it throughout the home. The same applies if you want to create a more contemporary French ambiance.
